A Match Made in Design Heaven.

Few & Far’s Design Team had the privilege of styling a custom-built waterfront home in Coledale, designed by Alex Urena Design Studio, interior design by Lisa Johnson Design and built by Simpson and Co. Projects. This collaboration beautifully demonstrates how custom homes and unique furniture can come together to create a harmonious living space. The project highlights the beauty of thoughtful design and the art of imperfection through wabi-sabi decor, celebrating the harmony of natural materials. The seamless blend of modern functionality with imperfect antiques creates a breathtaking, stylish, and welcoming home. Embark on a room-by-room journey, captured by the talented photographer Joshua Hill, through this breathtaking blend of modern design and timeless wabi-sabi charm.

Mixing the Old with the New.

This home beautifully blends coastal, industrial, and wabi-sabi elements, creating a unique and harmonious space. Industrial touches are visible throughout, from modern interior pieces to the home's exterior. In contrast, wabi-sabi's theme of imperfection and simplicity shines through in smaller homewares, adding timeless beauty. Wabi-sabi—a Japanese aesthetic that celebrates natural materials and simplicity—permeates the styling, fostering a serene and authentic atmosphere.

The exterior features Acoya Grey cladding and warm hardwood accents, giving the home a timeless quality, complemented by light oak flooring. Earthy tones, handcrafted details, and natural materials come together seamlessly, telling a story that takes centre stage. Both the facade and interior are designed to withstand the test of time, blending effortlessly in harmony. This is exemplified in the kitchen, where custom walnut cabinetry is paired with the carefully crafted Laith & Amina planters. Reclaimed wood plays a key role in the design, with the Verona Dining Table further accentuating its unique grain and rich texture. Every room reflects the passage of time, filled with objects of meaning that elevate the beauty of everyday moments.

Chic Dining and Living Design: Tribal Rugs & Industrial Accents.

In the main dining area, a seamless blend of modern and vintage furniture pieces complements the architectural details. A soft, neutral palette with textured accents creates a visually dynamic yet cozy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing by the water.

The Kalindri Rug, inspired by tribal geometric patterns, adds a layer of global charm, offering both visual interest and warmth. Its design pairs effortlessly with the sleek metal and leather textures of the Oliver Dining Chair in Black. The charcoal metal frame echoes the industrial elements of the home's exterior.

To further bridge the interior and exterior, our stylists have introduced the oversized silhouette of the high-quality terracotta Brika Pot, bringing an earthy touch to the space. Personalising the display, we’ve included one of our highly sought-after vintage wooden trays and candle stands on the kitchen benches. To introduce metallic accents, we’ve added brass candle stands (coming soon to the website), Indian Rose Water Bottles, and the Nest Bowl, finished in a dark antique brass, completing the room with a refined sense of elegance.

Personalising the Powder Room.

Transforming the powder room into a sanctuary of style and sophistication is effortless with standout pieces like Brodware's rumbled organic brass fixtures, a bold black concrete sink, and carefully chosen decor that doesn’t overwhelm the space. The Brass Chapati Box and Denali Pot add dynamic texture and timeless elegance. These simple yet impactful accents create a polished look that guests will admire.

A Bedroom Sanctuary Grounded in Colour, Textiles, and Tranquility.

The master bedroom exudes serenity, with grey tones seamlessly continuing the narrative of the coastal home. Styled with the Retreat Bedhead in Carbon and the Kora Bedside Tables, the space exudes a modern vibe, accented by darker elements that reflect the building’s exterior. Paying homage to the Japanese origins of wabi-sabi, the (sold out) Shibuya Pendants, inspired by Tokyo’s famous Shibuya Crossing, hang on either side of the king-sized bed. Made from intricately woven rattan, they complement the coastal theme of the home and echo the room’s chosen textiles (Bruna Rug, Mihai & Honorata Cushions in Ancient Scroll and Chocolate Torte Colourways)

The bedhead’s soft, grounded design pairs effortlessly with the bedside table’s reeded drawer and reclaimed oak craftsmanship. To introduce subtle hints of brass, our stylists incorporated the Luna Bookends, with their half-arch shape and soft curves—mirroring the prominent architectural curves in both the bedroom walls and the kitchen, leading into the butler’s pantry (see below). This harmonious combination creates a serene yet organised atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The stunning curved wall facing the bed invites you to explore the exceptional craftsmanship of the ensuite bathroom.

A Bathroom Masterpiece for Peaceful Retreat.

Just beyond the curved wall of the master suite, a green oasis awaits—our master bathroom sanctuary. Featuring Di Lorenzo Avio glossy green tiling and natural river stone basins, this space creates a striking yet soothing atmosphere, perfectly complemented by our modern Tessa side table (in Off-White with White Grout). Carefully curated vintage pieces including a Brass Teapot from India, blend seamlessly with the contemporary design, fusing old-world charm with modern luxury.

Our stylists have thoughtfully incorporated spa-like elements, such as Himalayan rock salt, a Japanese-inspired Hetkinen scent diffuser (available in-store), and a Brass Cooking Pot from India. The result is a serene retreat, where timeless elegance and modern sophistication converge—inviting relaxation from the stunning bathtub to the refined brass accents.

A Closet Rich in Character.

The walk-in wardrobe effortlessly combines vintage charm with modern functionality. Our handcrafted Chinese Rice Measure and Vintage Brick Mould (set of two) each tell their own unique story, offering both character and practicality for wardrobe organisation. To brighten the space, we recommend adding a linen Willow Throw in natural. Together, these pieces celebrate the beauty of imperfection while introducing a layer of timeless elegance to this personal sanctuary.

Every Corner Crafted with Care.

Simpson & Co.’s architectural detail shines in the downstairs & guest bathroom, highlighted by the striking backlit mirror. The Brodware rumbled organic brass hardware is beautifully complemented by Few & Far’s carefully selected pieces, including a Vintage Square Stool, a stone bowl, and a Chickpea Hand towel. This harmonious blend of brass accents, lush greenery, and earthy materials like wood and stone creates a grounding, serene atmosphere. Every detail is thoughtfully curated, making this bathroom the perfect sanctuary to unwind and glow inside and out.

Stylish, Functional Laundry Room Design.

Even the laundry room embodies both beauty and functionality. Glide open the laundry doors with ease, thanks to the sleek brass handles, and discover how the natural wood featured in the kitchen extends seamlessly throughout the home's cabinetry. For styling, less truly is more—thanks to this stunning custom fit-out. Few & Far’s popular Antique Chinese Wash Basin and Dark Vintage Indian Bowls are paired with the soft simplicity of the Theodore Throw in Ancient Scroll. Together, these elements create a serene, practical space, transforming everyday tasks into moments of calm.

This waterfront Coledale home is a testament to the power of collaboration and thoughtful design. Few & Far’s Design Team curated a serene space for their architectural shoot. From the dining room to the laundry, each room tells a story, reflecting the beauty of imperfection and the joy of simple pleasures.
