Looking for that exclusive, one-of-a-kind furniture piece to set the tone of your space and make it truly yours? I'm excited to share my handpicked favourites from our
most recent shipment of one-of-a-kind furniture. We've sourced some incredible pieces from all over the world - from 80 year old
Indian Almirah cabinets, to statement
teak sideboards perfect for your living room! Whether you're revamping one room or decorating an entire home, this is just what you need for maximum impact with minimal effort. So let's dive into my top ten picks!
2. Chinese Bench
As soon as I saw this
bench made from old pine from Northern China, I immediately fell in love!!! I would love one of these for an entry foyer or hallway with some vintage (or modern!) hooks above for hats and bags. The nails securing the cracks are one of my favourite features and the smooth finish of the wood makes this piece practical and beautiful.
3. Chinese Round Coffee Table
Something a little quirky, and again, love at first sight.
These little beauties remind me of mushrooms, but have that heavy, solid look about them. Definitely unique and what I would consider that 'special piece' for the lounge room (or even bedside table!).
4. Antique Chinese Cabinet
Ever since we imported our fist container of Chinese furniture, we've always had a soft spot for
painted cabinets. Usually, they come in reds, blacks and very bold colours, so when we saw these
pretty pastel shades, I knew I had to have it!
5. Xinjiang Bed Cabinet
Xinjiang cabinets from Northern China have always been on our 'treasure' list. The old pieces have been modified from what used to be a bed (and cut to half the size) to offer a more 'useful' purpose in Western culture. I have one at home as my entertainment unit for our TV - I love the intricacy of the carving and also the hidden storage!
6. Chinese Coffee Table
We've bought quite a few antique doors from Northern China, as well as
coffee tables with an old door as a top. However, I love the modern take on this style, with the simple straight iron legs. This style can easily be incorporated into a modern or rustic interior.
7. Vintage Indian Box
Vintage boxes from India are some of my favourite pieces, but this one is pretty special. While they come with a story behind them, they are also so versatile in terms of their use. Depending on their height, they can be used as a coffee table, sideboard or side table, for storage or even a drinks cabinet! Their chunky metal accessories offer character and soul, making them completely unique.
8. Vintage Indian Console Table
Simplicity is what I love about
this piece. I imagine it in a front foyer, mirror above, a few styled accessories and a lamp on top and a sculptural potted plant sitting next to it, providing a welcoming entry and place to drop your keys. This piece could work in a modern or vintage interior - it all comes down to how you style it!
9. Vintage Indian Wire Almirah
We've come across some pretty special Indian
almirahs in our time, but what I love about
this one is the wire mesh used on the doors. What would traditionally have been used for food storage, this piece could work in any room for various storage displays (imagine pretty folded linens in here, or a collection of crockery!).
10. Chinese Stone Bowl
I love the rustic imperfection of these
stone bowls. I imagine them clustered together in the middle of a dining table for a simple display, or a single bowl stacked on a pile of books on a shelving display or coffee table.
